How we went from self-builders to construction specialists
In 2006, we bought a run-down 1970s woolaway bungalow. As a Chartered Engineer, project manager and ex-carpenter, I was excited to renovate and extend it to create our forever family home. But as we began the work, we uncovered more issues than we bargained for.
After examining every possible solution, we realised our only way forward was to demolish the house and start again…
Cue a rollercoaster of self-build emotions. Seeing our much-longed-for home turned into rubble was hard. But building our dream family home from the foundations up, exactly how we wanted it, ended up being the best thing we ever did.
Whenever we hit a bump in the road, my engineering experience helps us make the right decision for the build – and our budget. Our architect was so impressed, he even started putting his other clients in touch for support and advice!
By the time we finished the build, not only did we have the perfect home for our family, but we had a list of clients who wanted us to manage their build too.
And with that, Sean Parker Construction was born.
Fast forward to today, and we’re now a fully-fledged construction firm, not only project managing our client’s builds, but overseeing every aspect of the construction too. We’ve helped over 100 self-builders build their own dream homes, we’ve won awards for our projects, and we can’t wait to get started on yours!

Starting his career as an apprentice carpenter, Sean worked his way up to engineering manager roles in some of the UK’s leading naval design firms. But a love for Cornwall and a desire to spend more time with his young family led Sean back to his roots. After successfully rebuilding his own home, he launched Sean Parker Construction, combining his hands-on carpentry skills with his engineering expertise. Sean’s analytical mind and commitment to quality mean your dream home is built with precision and care, from the ground up. And he’s here to make sure your build is as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Andy Duff
Quantity Surveyor
With 38 years as a Quantity Surveyor under his belt, Andy’s exactly the kind of person you want looking after your money. His insider knowledge of Cornwall’s local supply chain allows him to find smart, cost-effective solutions without compromising on quality.
